Linera is a Level 1 blockchain dedicated to providing secure, high scalability, and low-latency infrastructure to enhance the response speed of Web3 applications, bridging the performance gap between centralized and decentralized applications. Its founding team comes from Meta (Facebook) and has deep experience in the development of the Diem blockchain, possessing a certain level of technical strength. Technical Features of Linera

Multi-chain Architecture (Micro-Chain / Integrated Multi-Chain)
Linera adopts a parallel multi-chain model to process transactions, thereby increasing throughput and block speed. Its design claims to provide the following advantages compared to existing mainstream scaling solutions:
- Faster than single-chain architecture
- Easier cross-chain interaction than sharding technology
- Faster dispute resolution than Rollup solutions
Elastic Validator Mechanism
Linera allows different micro-chains to be processed by different Workers, enabling the system to horizontally scale according to load changes. As transaction volume increases, validators can dynamically increase the number of Workers to optimize performance and stability.
Smart Contract Language
Linera develops smart contracts in Rust, while also drawing from the resource-oriented Move language to enhance security and composability. Since Move is based on Rust syntax, Linera’s claim of ‘drawing on’ Move can be viewed as a partial extension or variant of the Move language.
Consensus Mechanism (DPoS + BFT)
Linera combines DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) and BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) consensus mechanisms, where DPoS determines the voting weight of validators, and BFT is responsible for final block decision making.
- With the use of multi-chain architecture and BFT consensus, Linera can realize a ‘one-click chain issuance’ feature, supporting the rapid deployment of new chains.
- Its elastic validator mechanism provides the system with good dynamic scaling capability, enhancing overall response speed.
- However, Linera still faces shortcomings in cross-chain solutions, and due to its architectural characteristics, its level of centralization is relatively high.
Summary:
Linera is often compared with Aptos and Sui, but in terms of team size, member backgrounds, and fundraising capabilities, Linera is far behind the other two. Although all three core teams come from Diem and Novi, and all received investment from A16Z, Linera’s development pace is relatively slow, and its seed round funding amount is significantly less than Aptos ($2 billion) and Sui ($36 million).

Technically, all three have adopted or drawn from the Move language. In architectural design, Linera utilizes a multi-chain architecture similar to Avalanche. Additionally, Linera’s initial fundraising of $6 million matches early funding size of Avalanche and has also been favored by A16Z.
